👀 Problems to Solve


<aside> 📡 Problem #1: Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) are struggling with declines in access and viewership

The regional sports network ecosystem is under pressure with increased streaming competition as consumers continue to cut cords. By leaving WGN and moving to Marquee Network’s RSN, fans were shocked to be left out of television access and viewership, with viewership declining 56% in 2022 with an average 1.57 rating.

Additionally, Baseball specifically, seems determined to push hardcore fans away with its blackout policy, despite being the sport most dependent on rooting for the home team on a nightly basis. Easy access to Cubs content on all platforms and devices is essential for user growth, retention, and expansion.

The rule changes have helped make the game more exciting but there still is a lack of enthusiasm across the sport of baseball. Marquee Network needs to make baseball, the Cubs and its broadcasts exciting even if the game isn’t.

According to customer feedback, one key weakness of the Cubs digital footprint is the poor broadcast. Marquee Network needs to reimagine its digital experience and create the baseball broadcast of the future.

Nothing sells baseball better than a live baseball game. We need to leverage our technology to make our broadcasts the best in sports. Position our personalized content and engaging media to be a great companion for fans everywhere across the globe.

Baseball has historically attracted an older demographic, and engaging younger fans, particularly millennials and Generation Z, presents a challenge. Younger generations may have different preferences for entertainment, consumption habits, and engagement with sports.
